A Parent's Self-Care Workshop

Caring for Yourself as a Parent
While caring for your children, it is equally important to care for yourself. This session will guide parents to recognize their own needs and well-being, so they can nurture their children with greater balance and energy.

About Us

St. James' Settlement — Castle of Love Child Protection Support Service (ChildPRO) has been established since March 2025, funded by the Social Welfare Department (SWD), to enhance professional support for children and their families who are assessed to be in need.

The service team receives case referrals from the Family and Child Protective Services Units (FCPSUs) of SWD and formulates tailor-made service plans for the service users, including home visitation support, therapeutic / psychosocial groups, educational & family enrichment programmes, and accompany / escort services, etc.

The service team collaborates with referring units in the form of a partnership to provide targeted and focused interventions and professional support for children and families in need.

Target Service Users and Serving Districts

Families referred by Family and Child Protective Services Units by the social workers*

(Hong Kong Island & Islands)

*The service team will receive referrals from FCPSUs firstly and accept referrals from Integrated Family Service Centres/ Integrated Service Centres operated by SWD and NGOs in the second phase.

Scope of Service

Regular home visits to provide practical advice on discipline techniques and child-rearing.

Home Visitation Support

Through regular home visits and tailor-made home-based training, we provide hands-on coaching, live demonstration and advice on parenting and childcare skills.

Position / Role

We organize group sessions to promote children's recovery and enhance caregivers' discipline effectiveness.

Group & Individual Session

We conduct therapeutic and psychosocial groups or individual sessions to build the resilience and strengthen the self-protection skills of children and enhance the parental capacity.

Parent-child activities for positive relationships and communication

Educational & Family Enrichment Programme

We organize a wide range of educational programmes and family activities to facilitate parent-child interaction, foster positive family relationship and rebuild support network for needy families.

Easing caregivers’ stress in discipline and child care through attentive support and companionship.

StandbyU

Our staff provide attentive care / support and / or accompany / escort etc. to relieve the parenting stress or child care problems and/ or facilitate them to accomplish necessary tasks beneficial to their recovery. Volunteer assistance may also be enlisted for supporting needy cases.

Position / Role

Professional consultation, short-term psychological therapy, or assessment by clinical psychologists and nurses.

Clinical Psychological &

Nursing Support

The Clinical Psychologist and Nursing staff facilitate case consultation / assessment, give advice / recommendations, or provide short-term clinical psychological treatment.
